Hi! If you were around for my Millennium Falcon build on discord, you'll recall that I didn't have much commentary there; it was mostly progress photos. I'm going to try and add a bit more commentary for this build, calling out bits of the build that I find particularly interesting or clever, or just describing my progress a bit more. At least that's my intent at the start; that was kind of my intent with the Falcon too, and then I got caught up in the build and forgot to do more than take start and end photos of each section. We'll see whether I stick with it here.

This box, and the inner boxes, are beautiful in their own right. The Falcon's inner boxes did the same thing with a wireframe pic of the model, which was neat, but I love this gold on black color scheme.

I also appreciate the separate build instruction books for each phase. (Not pictured here; I opened the first box to look at the build instructions, but didn't bother grabbing a photo of that. Let me know if you want one and I'll post it in a comment, but it's just a black book with no photo on the cover.) The Falcon came in four stages, but there was just one massive spiral-bound assembly guide. It's a neat artifact, but it was a bit cumbersome to actually use during the build. For this set, it looks like each section has its own book, and these are lighter and a bit smaller, and a lot thinner, so I anticipate less trouble using them.

I don't know how soon I'll start actually building. I know where I'm going to set up the build station, but I don't actually have a table big enough yet; I went to buy one today, but the store's website lied and said they have them in stock, when they're actually only available online. So I've ordered one, and it should get here soon, but I'm reluctant to start the build on my too-small desk, so I may wait. (Unless I get impatient and start anyway.) And even once I've started, I don't promise regular updates; I'll obviously post whenever I build, but I'll be doing that in my spare time, as I feel like it. The Falcon took me about a month, and I expect this to take a similar amount of time, or maybe a bit longer.

Anyway. Thanks for reading! I'd love to know who's reading this, and generally hear from y'all; feel free to ask for specific photos or specific questions about the build in the comments, or just comment to say hi. In fact, here's a prompt you can answer in the comments if you want; if this goes well and people seem to like it, I might include one in every post:

Tell me about your favorite (or just a memorable) Lego experience, or other creative project.
