3.6.43: Four good clicks
Jan. 24th, 2022 10:39 pmAs I get closer to finishing the build, I'm slowing down, because I want to savor the experience, so I guess it's going to be a few days between posts now. I'm very much looking forward to the final three stages, though. I hope it also continues to be fun to read about.
Here's the mise-en-place for stage 43.

I started by adding a strip of gold/orange to the deck, and then adding some structural internal pieces to the as-yet-undecked stern.

I wasn't quite done with the substructure, but it was time for a trivia break.

I built these small internal sub-assemblies and added them to the build.

I finished off the sub-structure with a bunch of 2x4 blocks and a few other chunky pieces.

I built up the wall at the end of the lower section of deck, and then added deck plates to the raised portion at the stern.

I shaped the sternmost portions of the deck using these sub-assemblies that I attached sideways in two different ways, which was neat. Here's the first set, attached using the bent plate:

And the second set, attached to those vertical plates at the center of the stern.

I finished off the wall at the front of this section of deck, and added two small pulley wheels to the deck near the stern.

Finally, I wrapped up this stage by building four tiny bench sub-assemblies and clipping them into place.

That's it for stage 43! I'm still not sure what that small hole that remains in the center of this section of deck is for, but I'll find out in one of the next three stages, I suppose. Thanks as always for reading!
Discussion prompt: As creative projects wrap up, how do you find motivation to keep going?
