As I get closer to finishing the build, I'm slowing down, because I want to savor the experience, so I guess it's going to be a few days between posts now. I'm very much looking forward to the final three stages, though. I hope it also continues to be fun to read about.

Here's the mise-en-place for stage 43.

I started by adding a strip of gold/orange to the deck, and then adding some structural internal pieces to the as-yet-undecked stern.
The half of the build that has deck now ends with a strip of orange going across the deck, with two small gaps.
Three 2x12 grey plates have been added across the un-decked portion of the build, along with a few other plates.

I wasn't quite done with the substructure, but it was time for a trivia break.
A caption from the build instructions, in English, French, and Spanish. "The two sister ships of the RMS Titanic were RMS Olympic, completed in 1911, and HMHS Britannic, launched in 1915."

I built these small internal sub-assemblies and added them to the build.
Three sub-assemblies: two identical three-layer 2x2 builds with a clip coming out the side of the middle layer, and a 2x4 build with longer technic pieces on either side and vertical panels on the front.
The sub-assemblies have been added to the main build. The two 2x2 clips have been placed on either side of one of the grey plates, and the 2x4 piece has been placed at the stern, with the vertical plates facing out from the back of the ship.

I finished off the sub-structure with a bunch of 2x4 blocks and a few other chunky pieces.
Blocks have been added as described.

I built up the wall at the end of the lower section of deck, and then added deck plates to the raised portion at the stern.
A wall of 1x2 bricks with holes has been added on top of the orange strip from earlier. The two gaps have blocks with headlights placed in them, which stairs can be added to later.
The internal structure added earlier at the stern has been mostly covered in tan plates and tiles. Two large gaps along the center line of the build remain.

I shaped the sternmost portions of the deck using these sub-assemblies that I attached sideways in two different ways, which was neat. Here's the first set, attached using the bent plate:
Two mirror-image sub-assemblies with sloped tiles stacked on top of small plates, all on a bent plate.
The bent plates have been attached to two small areas on each side of the stern that didn't yet have deck plates.

And the second set, attached to those vertical plates at the center of the stern.
Two very small sub-assemblies made of a 1x2 brick and some small sloped tiles
The small sub-assemblies have been added to one side of the vertical plate as described.
A second set of small sub-assemblies has been added to the other side of the vertical plate.

I finished off the wall at the front of this section of deck, and added two small pulley wheels to the deck near the stern.
The wall has been topped with tiles and clips, some of which hold railings, and some of which are ready to hold railing that will presumably be added in a later stage. Stairs have been added to the bricks with headlights.
Two one-stud pulley wheels have been added as described.

Finally, I wrapped up this stage by building four tiny bench sub-assemblies and clipping them into place.
Three fully-assembled identical 1x5 tiny bench sub-assemblies, with a fourth one laid out but not yet assembled.
One of the bench sub-assemblies held in place over the stern-most hole in the deck. In the hole, two clips are visible to hold two of the bench assemblies.
The bench assembly from the previous photo has been clipped into place.
All four bench sub-assemblies have been added.

That's it for stage 43! I'm still not sure what that small hole that remains in the center of this section of deck is for, but I'll find out in one of the next three stages, I suppose. Thanks as always for reading!
