2.3.15: Starboard hull wall
Dec. 3rd, 2021 11:11 pmAnother short, simple, almost meditative stage today. It was quite soothing, actually, and a good way to unwind after a busy week at work. I like that despite the build having a bunch of repeated elements throughout, the designers still found a way to add variation and keep me interested. In box 1, I built out the full model and then added the hull walls; here, I'm not even a quarter into the second box, and less than halfway through section 3, and I'm already adding hull walls to that section, even though I haven't built the upper decks yet. And these walls are constructed quite differently from the walls in box 1; they look similar on the outside, but as you'll see, the inner structure is nto at all the same.
Here's the mise-en-place.

First I built this backing plate, which looked almost haphazard, but you'll see why it makes sense in a moment.

As soon as I added these tiles I started to see what was happening.

And then the bottom half.

I believe that gap on the left is where another red tile will be placed after sections 3 and 4 are joined together.
I added the hull to the main build, and put the orange line in place.

And that's it for stage 14! Thanks as always for reading.
